Sarah Menefee: Winter Rose

San Francisco poet Sarah Menefee, originally from Reno, Nevada, is a homeless rights activist and a founding member of such groups as Homes Not Jails, the League of Revolutionaries for a New America, and ‘First they came for the homeless.’

Her previous collections of poetry include I’m Not Thousandfurs, The Blood About the Heart, Human Star, In Your Fish Helmet, CEMENT, and Holy Eel (Lithic Press, 2024). 

She has worked in hospitals, casinos, bars, day care centers, offices, and bookstores, and as an artist’s model; and has taught poetry in homeless shelters, half-way houses and at Occupy. Now retired, she is a full-time gadfly and sitter in cafés.
